About Gleneagles
Gleneagles station opened in 1856 as Crieff Junction and took its present name in 1912. It serves the town of Auchterarder in Perth and Kinross, but most visitors know it as the stop for the Gleneagles hotel, which the Caledonian Railway built nearby and opened in 1925.
The resort has hosted the 2005 G8 summit and the 2014 Ryder Cup, and its courses and hotel remain the main reason to alight here. In the nearby village of Blackford, Tullibardine Distillery offers guided tours.

History of the station
The Scottish Central Railway opened the station on 14 March 1856 as Crieff Junction, on the same day that the Crieff Junction Railway's branch to Crieff opened. The Caledonian Railway, which took over the Scottish Central, renamed it Gleneagles on 1 April 1912 and in 1919 rebuilt the station and junction as it created its grand hotel nearby, which opened in 1925.
The Crieff branch closed on 6 July 1964, but the hotel kept the station busy with visitors; the resort hosted the G8 summit in 2005 and the Ryder Cup in 2014. For the Ryder Cup the station was refurbished, with a lift, rebuilt platform surfaces, passenger information screens and a new car park reached from the A9.
